Mediastinal Lipomatosis in Simple obesity*
نویسنده
چکیده
A case of superior mediastinal widening due to unusual amounts of fat accumulation is reported in a patient with simple obesity, not associated with iatrogenic or primary Gushing's syndrome. The radiographic features included a smooth bilateral widening of the superior mediastinum, relative lucency, no dyfinable mass in the lateral view, and no pressure effects on the trachea Such mediastid Upomatosis is a benign condition and may be related to general obesity. Although rare, it should be considered in the differential diagnosis of mediastid masses, particularly in obese individuals.

Mediastinal lipomatosis as a cause of low voltage complexes on electrocardiogram and widened mediastinum: A case report
BACKGROUND Mediastinal widening is a common finding on chest radiograph, and can be caused by numerous conditions. Most of these diseases have grave prognosis if accompanied by chest pain, and require immediate attention. However, mediastinal lipomatosis is a very benign condition caused by deposition of adipose tissue in the mediastinum. CASE PRESENTATION We present a case of a morbidly obes...
متن کاملCT to the rescue in benign, symmetrical mediastinal lipomatosis.
A 34-year-old woman presented to the chest physician with progressively increasing shortness of breath. She was non-diabetic, non-hypertensive, non-obese without any other co-morbid illnesses. There was no history of prolonged drug intake of any sort. Other associated diseases like Cushing’s syndrome were excluded. A chest radiograph (postero-anterior view) revealed a veil-like opacity in the m...

متن کاملSpontaneous hemomediastinum complicating steroid-induced mediastinal lipomatosis.
Spontaneous hemomediastinum is a rare event, occurring in association with bleeding disorders, intratumoral bleeding, or following an abrupt increase in intrathoracic pressure. We report the case of a patient with systemic lupus erythematosus, nephrotic syndrome, and renal failure, in whom mediastinal lipomatosis (ML) developed following increased corticosteroid therapy. Anticoagulant therapy l...
